Injunction

An injunction is a preventive writ issued by a court of equity at the request of a party complainant, directed at a party defendant in the action, or to a party made a defendant for that purpose, and prohibiting the latter from doing some act, or from allowing his servants or agents to do some act, which he is threatening or attempting to commit, or restraining him in the continuation thereof, if such act is unjust and inequitable.

Injunction

For instance, if someone is tearing down a structure for which you may have claims, you can approach the appropriate court to issue an injunction preventing the demolition of the structure pending the outcome of the claim's trial.

The Specific Relief Act, 1963 (hereafter, the Act) established the law of injunction, and the Code of Civil Procedure, 1908 in India governs its use.
