A Will is a legal document containing declaration that a person during his lifetime makes in order to plan the distribution of his assets and properties in a way he wants. A will enables the heirs and survivors of the deceased to inherit the property in a way the deceased wanted in his lifetime. A will can be handwritten or typed. Also it is not mandatory register your will. If anybody wish to register a will, then can get it registered at sub-registrar office. There is not such charges for registering a will. A very nominal fees for scanning of documents is to be paid with 2 witnesses during registration.

1 He or She should be of sound mind.

2 He or she should be aware of what he is writing in the will. 

3 There should not be any influence or pressure for making a will.

4 Writing of will should be his or her act done volutarily by him or her.

Even though it is not necessary to register your will, it has some advantages.

1 The Registration process takes place at sub- registrar office where a copy of the will is kept stored under government office. So there is no chance of stealing, burning or damaging the will. 

2 The Registration of will takes place at sub-registrar office in presence of witnesses , with their sign and thumb impression & photographs. so execution of will takes places without any doubt. 

Documents Required for will Registration

1 PAN Card

2 AADHAR Card

3 Doctor Certificate certifying that the person has be examined during will registration and he or she is physically and mentally fit.

4 PAN Cards of two witnesses.

5 2 photos of person registering/making will.
