Mandamus is Latin for "command." It refers to a directive or order given to compel any individual, business, the High court, or governmental body to carry out a legal obligation. Any person may apply to a High Court or the Supreme Court for the issuance of the writ of Mandamus if they are adversely impacted by the violation or abuse of such public duty and have the legal authority to enforce its performance.
